Today we had the opportunity to participate in a wonderful poetry workshop with a guest speaker.
We wrote poems about our favourite animals, using metaphors and similes.

Year 3 have been learning all about plants in this half term's Science topic.
Today, we went into one of our wonderful outdoor learning spaces to draw pictures of the plants we could see and label their features :)

Year 5 really enjoyed looking at Staffordshire Hoard artefacts. They looked at how the artefacts can tell us about the life of the Anglo-Saxons and how the artefacts have limitations.

Year 5 worked in team point groups to create a much smaller version of the solar system. They used different equipment to represent different planets based on their size.
Year 5 Making Anglo-Saxon shields, by Miss Wallis

Year 5 had created some Anglo-Saxon shields using cardboard and tin foil. The shields will be used for the Anglo-Saxon assembly later on in the half term.

We have been learning all about plants. We explored plants around our school and identified and classified the according to their features. We then investigated water transportation and how water travels around a plant. We learnt about the importance of the roots and the stem.

We began the year by recapping the word chronology, we made a timeline of our life and then we looked at a timeline of World History. We talked about AD and BC and then had a go at ordering the different perdiods. As in introduction to primary and secondary sources, we have been looking at how we can find out information about The Stonehenge, we created a silhouette painting using watercolours. We also had a go at making our own cave paintings using the media of charcoal.

Year 6 had an amazing trip to the Imperial War Museum today. We took two trams to get to Media City UK where we then walked to the museum. Throughout the day we explored the amazing exhibition space and got to enjoy a 'Ministry of Memory Magic' workshop.

Year 6 spent the morning at Cruciual Crew today. Crucial Crew is a multi-agency safety event aimed at Year 6 children (10 to 11 year olds) designed to provide children with life skills that will enable them to keep themselves and others safe. They heard talks from the transport police, travelsafe metrolink, learnt about CPR and lots more.

To complete our RE topic, What does it mean to be a Hindu in Britain today, we had a special visit from one of our parents who follows Hinduism. Adi's mum from 4M came in to talk to the children. She was able to talk to the children about her religion and answer questions. Then she taught the children a bollywood dance. Every child was engaged and enjoyd this. The children were lucky enought to try on different tradditional dresses. We all have so much fun.

Year 4 enjoyed going into the local area and litter picking. Everyone was very sensible and thought about saftey. They then were rewarded with a play on the park. Good work Year 4.

This week, Year 6 were taught by our digital leaders all about online safety and computational thinking. In the lesson, the children had to recap what they knew about online safety, work in teams to instruct each other through mazes and summarise their knowledge in a fun Kahoot quiz! Year 6 have also spent some time learning about 'Carbon Footprints'. In this lesson, they explored their own carbon footprints and decided on tips on how they can reduce their carbon footprints. Towards the end of the week, Year 6 worked in teams on a STEM activity involving creating their own miniature 'Titanic' boats. They had to try to adapt their 'boat' to prevent it from sinking. We timed the ones that lasted the longest and discussed how this was due to surface area, mass and buoyancy.

Year 5 went on a walk around Stretford. We went to Stretford Mall, Stretford Public Hall and St Matthew's Church. We made notes on how our local area has changed.
