Year 5 had a fantastic time at Tatton Park learning more about the Anglo-Saxons and the Vikings. They learnt about what weapons the Anglo-Saxons and Vikings used, they learnt how to farm and they learnt how to create a shield wall.

As part of our topic we enjoyed learning about the Easter story and why the crucifix is such an important symbol to Chrsitians. We then used charcoal to create an artist image of a cross.

Our sewing topic was a fit! Everyone really enjoyed the challenge of learning different stitches. After researching pencil cases, and their interesting history, we designed our own considering our audience. After this we made our own pencil cases. It was important to consider the fastening used and the length to ensure all the stationary could fit in.
Art- making gemstones and pendants, by Miss McEvoy

As part of our jewellery topic we learnt all about differnt gemstones. We then enjoyed making our own gemstones using a plain gem and nail varnish. We had to think about what we had learnt to make it look real. After this, we used our gemstones to design a necklace and our gemstone was the pendant.
Year 4- History museum, by Miss McEvoy

To complete our Crime and Punishment topic we revised all of the information we had learnt across our 5 session to make a poster, leaflet or fact file whihc could go into a Year 4 museum. We enjoyed looking at pictures of people we had learnt about, including; Sir Robert Peel, Emmeline Pankhurst and Dick Turpin. We are all veyr proud of our work and we hope you like them too :)

Crucial Crew, by Miss Horvath

Year 6 spent the morning listening to a number of local agencies with 'Crucial Crew'. They explored how they can be safe in a number of areas, including: Railway safety (transport police), tram and bus safety (transport safety), keeping our belongings safe on the streets (police), road safety and first aid - the recovery position.

Year 6 enjoyed practising their lettering in our Street Art unit this week. They explored different tones, light and shadow and the shape of the letters often used in graffiti. They also learnt that names on graffiti are often referred to as 'throwies'. Even Mr Boyer and Miss Horvath got involved!

We started our new Geography topic by looking at looking at the 2020 planet report. We then worked in groups to create our own planet reports to present to the class. In our reports we included the threats, causes and effects that we currently have on our planet and any solutions that people can take to prevent further devastation.

This half term Year 6 are creating challenges for another class to solve and return! In our first session, the children took part in unplugged computing activities to develop their understanding of collaboration and team work. They had to work together to complete a number of challenges.

In Science, we have been learning all about Animals including Humans and their diets. We identified and classified different animals based on whether they were a; herbivore, omnivore or a carnivore. We looked at what characteristics these animals have such as sharp pointy teeth which can help us determine what their diet consists of.
