PE
NEW SEPTEMBER 2024! This year we are training all of our Year 6 Pupils as leaders and will be using their skills to enhance our daily sport and well-being offer - watch this space!
Our school is an official partner with Beyond the Physical and we utilise their physical literacy-informed and mastery-based PE Scheme of work to teach transformational PE to our children.
Our Vision
At Moss Park, we believe that Physical Education (PE) is essential for developing confident, skilled, and active children who enjoy lifelong physical activity and well-being. Through our partnership with Beyond the Physical, we deliver a transformational, mastery-based PE curriculum that creates Masterful Movers, Skillful Solvers, and Confident Connectors.
Our approach ensures every child embarks on a purposeful and meaningful PE journey, where physical competence, teamwork, and problem-solving skills are nurtured in a safe, supportive, and engaging environment. We aim to develop a lifelong love for physical activity and promote the importance of fitness and health.
Our Aims

Work effectively as individuals, in groups, or as part of a team.
Develop planning, practicing, performing, and evaluating skills to improve physical performance.
Understand and practice safe physical activity, considering the safety of others.
Perform to the best of their ability, celebrating personal achievements with pride.
Foster a positive attitude toward physical activity, enjoying participation in all forms.
Implementation
At Moss Park Primary, our PE curriculum is designed with the intent of providing every child with a high-quality, inclusive, and engaging physical education that develops their confidence, skills, and understanding of lifelong fitness and health. By utilising the Beyond the Physical mastery-based scheme, we aim to ensure that every child becomes a Masterful Mover, Skilful Solver, and Confident Connector, capable of achieving their personal best and contributing meaningfully as part of a team.
Through purposeful and structured lessons in Team Sports, Racket Sports, Athletics, Dance, and Gymnastics, alongside opportunities for collaboration and competition, we foster creativity, resilience, and respect. We ensure inclusivity for all pupils, including those with SEND, by providing tailored support and emphasising that "Everyone can achieve, everyone can succeed."
The impact of this approach is seen in the confidence, competence, and enthusiasm children demonstrate for physical activity. Pupils leave Moss Park:
Equipped with the skills and knowledge to lead healthy, active lives.
Ready to engage in physical challenges with a positive attitude and sense of achievement.
Confident in their ability to work individually and collaboratively in teams.
Inspired to continue participating in physical activity and sports beyond their primary years.
Our PE curriculum connects learning to real-life applications, building not only physical competence but also resilience, teamwork, and problem-solving skills that extend into every aspect of life. By the time they leave Moss Park, pupils are prepared for future physical, social, and emotional challenges, with a love for physical activity embedded in their everyday lives.
