Spanish
Our Vision
At Moss Park, we believe that learning a new language opens doors to global opportunities, deepens cultural understanding, and builds confidence. Spanish is taught in both Lower and Upper Key Stage 2, providing children with the skills and knowledge to communicate effectively while fostering an appreciation of the rich history and culture of the Spanish-speaking world.
Through engaging lessons, we aim to inspire pupils to speak, read, and write with increasing confidence and fluency. By exploring authentic sources and practicing real-world communication, children develop a love for language learning that enhances their ability to connect with others globally.
Our Aims
Understand and respond to spoken and written language from a variety of authentic sources.
Speak with growing confidence, fluency, and spontaneity, using discussion and questions to communicate effectively while improving pronunciation and intonation.
Write for different purposes and audiences, varying length and style, while applying a range of grammatical structures.
Discover and appreciate a variety of Spanish-language texts, fostering a deeper cultural understanding.
Implementation
Our Spanish curriculum is carefully designed to ensure progression in linguistic skills, cultural understanding, and confidence. Pupils in LKS2 and UKS2 build their vocabulary and grammar knowledge incrementally, enabling them to express themselves with accuracy and creativity.
Lessons are interactive and purposeful, incorporating speaking, listening, reading, and writing activities. From role-playing conversations to exploring Spanish literature, children engage with language in meaningful ways that connect to their world.
By the end of Key Stage 2, pupils will have the foundational skills to continue their language-learning journey confidently, with a deep respect for the diversity and richness of the Spanish-speaking world. At Moss Park, we equip our children to become global citizens, ready to embrace the opportunities that the Spanish culture brings.
