Year 1 World Book Day, by Mrs GIlmour
Date: 14th Mar 2025 @ 12:47pm
Last week we celebrated world book day with lots of fun activities! We listened to the author Julia Donaldson read us a story and the illustrator Axel Scheffler showed us how to draw some of his famour characters too. We also had a week of mystery readers. Our grown ups from home came into the classroom and suprised us by reading us one of their favourite stories, thank you for sharing them with us!
On world book day we dressed up as our favourite book characters. We drew a picture of our characters and described them using adjectives. We also went for a trip to Stretford library. The children found it very funny taking their teachers (Elphaba and Glinda) to the library! They listened to a story and read independently too. Their behaviour was fantastic on the walk to and from the library and also on our visit, well done year 1 and we enjoyed seeing all of you in your fancy dress outfits last Thursday too :) Keep up the super reading at home!

Year 1 went out of school this week to celebrate the fantastic year we have had! We used the attendance money they raised throughout the year to treat the children to a fun day at Let Loose soft play centre in Sale. They had so much fun decorating cupcakes, choosing a book from the free bookshop, playing in the soft play area and enjoying pizza and chips for lunch with a rocket ice lolly in the picnic area to end the day. I think they enjoyed racing their teachers down the slides the most and I'm sure they were very tired once they got home!
