A lesson on rules, by Mr Tarry
Date: 27th Apr 2018 @ 2:57pm
We learned all about the importance of having rules. We went outside and were given a range of equipment and told to 'play'. We had to make our own rules!
This activity showed us how much we rely on rules to play games and play fairly. We were all creative and came up with many different games!

Earth Day, by Mrs Grainger
Date: 24th Apr 2018 @ 12:15pm
On Sunday, it was Earth Day. It has been reported that plastic straws are going to be banned because there is too much plastic waste ending up in the sea. How are you reducing your plastic use in school and at home? For example; you might be reusing water bottles instead of throwing them away, using paper straws instead of plastic, using reusable plastic bags or bags for life or wrapping your packed lunch in tinfoil instead of clingfilm. We would love for you to let us know.

Author Visit, by Miss Currie
Date: 26th Mar 2018 @ 8:50am
Damian Harvey
Damian lives in North Wales with his wife Vicky. He has written over 80 children's books and has visited hundreds of schools and libraries in Great Britain and abroad to share his love of reading and writing.
Last week we were lucky enough to welcome the author, Damian Harvey, to Moss Park Juniors over two days. Damian intrigued the children with an assembly, sharing one of his stories using some unusual props; a shoe, a jumper and even a child!
He then spent the remainder of his time visiting each class to complete a creative writing session. Damian and the classes created a unique character based on the childrens' ideas and then they began to build up a story plan. By the end of the session the children had planned out the story and decided on a strong opening.
The sessions proved highly popular and Damian was able to get the best out of the children by crafting their elaborate ideas into a well organised plan.
Thanks Damian!

World Book Day, by Miss Higson
Date: 1st Mar 2018 @ 2:45pm
We celebrated World Book Day today. Everyone wore a costume which represented a book character in some way. The children all looked brilliant and I really enjoyed the chats we had about the books you were reading. Year 6 were also a reading buddy for each pupil in Year 3 - it was lovely to see the Year 6 pupils asking younger children about their book and listening to them read. What a great day!

Our Librarians, by Miss Currie
Date: 22nd Feb 2018 @ 4:11pm
With there only being one week until World Book Day, we thought we'd introduce you to our amazingly talented librarians. As well as running a weekly book club, they also enjoy renewing book displays, helping children choose interesting books and help out in any way possible.
Here they are (in no particular order);
'Hi I am Sylvie. I have recently enjoyed reading the whole collection of Percy Jackson books; they are full of adventure. I recommend them to Year 4 and above.
''My name is Dilkaran. My favourite quote is, 'Reading gives us some place to go when we have to stay where we are.'
'My name is Zainab and I am a librarian. My all time favourite author is Roald Dahl, he is the world's number one story writer.'
'Hi, my name is Natasha. I really enjoy the series of books from Chris Colfer called, The Land of Stories. However, i do still enjoy reading the Gruffalo to younger children during story time.'
'I am Zara and my favourite author is Cath Cassidy. The book I am reading at the minute, Cherry Crush, is excellent; I give it 8/10.'
'Hi, my name is Hafsah and I love being a librarian. My favourite author is David Walliams and I am currently reading his book, Awful Aunty.'
D.T. Masters, by Miss Currie

A huge well done and thank you to our very talented Year 6 children who have built each class a bookcase for their new, relaxing reading corners. The children worked alongside Mr Irvine in small groups to support each other. We are very grateful and impressed at your cooperating skills.

Diet Coke and Mentos Round 2, by Miss Lee
Date: 6th Feb 2018 @ 5:03pm
We tried the experiment again! Let's just say we were more disappointed the second time around than the first. Miss Lee and Mrs Richardson will do a bit of research around how to make the best reaction over half term and will give you the best fizzy explosion, which we promised to give you the first time! Any suggestions would be very helpful.
