Year 4 enjoyed recreating the digestive system this week. It was very smelly and very messy just like real life! Gross!

Today Year 5 acted out the story of the Highwayman. We enjoyed adding our own parts on using our inference skills.

 

Science 'Who wants to be a Millionaire', by Mrs McEvoy

For a revision lesson we decided we wanted to create a ‘Who wants to be a Millionaire’ quiz on all of our science topics. Each group created 5 questions on anything we had learnt this year in Science. For each question we had 1 correct answer and 3 wrong answers. Each group asked another group their questions. We then had a head to head with the 2 winning groups, which ended in a joint score. Everyone worked really hard to come up some tricky questions.

We have been learning all about Muslim beliefs, we used our knowledge of the 5 Pillars, the Qur’an, and our trip to the Mosque to create a poster which we presented to the rest of class.

We worked in groups either debating for or against this idea using our research.

Water Cycle Models , by Miss Horvath

Year 4 made the most of the sunshine today and decided to make their own water cycle models outside in the playground. We were able to observe the processes of evaporation and condensation within minutes of creating our models! Great work Year 4!

Year 5 Cheadle Mosque Visit, by Mrs McEvoy

Today Year 5 went to visit Cheadle Mosque as part of their RE topic, as we are learning about Islam.

We really enjoyed developing our knowledge of Islame, espcially the 5 Pillars. We aprticiapted in  numerous activities which each linked to a pillar. Part of the morning was learning how to write our name in Arabic and how Muslim's prepare to pray. We also got to wear the special clothing which Muslims wear when they visit Mekkah. It was a fantastic morning and really supported our topic.

Mayan Gods, by Miss Jones

Today we learnt all about Mayan Gods. We researched the different types and found out that there are over 600! We discussed the reasons why this may be. We then researched the Mayan creation story and re told the story using drama. We thought about how it is similar and different to the Christian creation story.

Instead of an Easter Egg Hunt, Y3 had a Fraction Hunt today. After we had collected them all, our challenge was to crack the code of the safe by ordering them from smallest to largest.

As part of our last Science topic we all planted a sunflower seed. We have worked together across the half term to keep them growing. Today we planted the ones which had grown successfully in one of our outdoor spaces. We had a lot of fun observing them growing over time.

This half term our computing topic has been to learn how websites are created and to then design our own and make it. We had a lot of fun linking this to our topic all about the Alps. We were able to show how muhc we learnt from our Topic lessons in our website.

Year 4 performed their hearts out yesterday and all of the staff here are incredibly proud of their hard work. 

 

A big thank you to any parents who helped with costumes and to parents who were able to find the time to come and watch.
